<h>Intro</h> We are the Sylvania Northview Student Launch Initiative Team. We are competing in the NASA Student Launch Initiative (SLI) competition for the first time. We were selected to compete in this competition because two teams from our school placed very well in Team America Rocketry Challenge (TARC). After submitting our research proposal to NASA, we were accepted into this elite competition. <img src = "/files/theme/teamrocket.jpg" alt = "image missing" class = "image">

<h>S4 Satellite</h>In 2015, four of our members competed in the S4 Payload competition. The objective of the competition was to launch a high-power rocket carrying a scientific payload. The S4 team flew a payload to study the effect of magnetic fields on bird migration on a rocket that would simulate the orbit of a satellite. The S4 team found that magnetic fields do not vary at the altitude that they flew to rocket to. The S4 team placed 2nd in the nation.<img src = "/files/theme/s4satellite-min.jpg" alt = "image missing" class = "image">

Scoring is based on altitude and the descent time of the rocket. The target altitude for the 2015 competition was 800 feet and the objective descent time was 46-48 seconds. The target for the second round of the competition was 775 feet with a descent time of 45-47 seconds. Team Men in Black V2 from placed 6th and team E-Lemon-Ators placed 13th.
